ED is rarely just one thing. Most cases involve both physical and psychological factors. You should consider them during your consultation.
Physical causes include cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, and hormonal imbalances. Some prescription medications, including antidepressants and antihypertensives, can also affect erectile function.
Psychological causes include stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and performance pressure. These often coexist with physical causes and can worsen over time if left unaddressed.
Lifestyle factors play a significant role too. Smoking restricts blood flow. Alcohol disrupts hormone levels. Lack of physical activity and poor sleep both contribute.
The four medications available at Chemitex Pharmacy are Sildenafil (Viagra), Tadalafil (Cialis), Vardenafil (Levitra), and Avanafil (Spedra). All are PDE5 inhibitors dispensed following a pharmacist-led consultation.
Sildenafil is the most commonly prescribed and typically taken 30 to 60 minutes before sex. It lasts around 4 to 6 hours.
Tadalafil has a longer duration, up to 36 hours, which some men find more natural. It can also be taken daily at a low dose.
Vardenafil is similar to sildenafil but may suit men who don’t respond as well to it.
Avanafil acts faster than the others, often within 15 minutes, and tends to have fewer side effects for some patients.
They work by increasing blood flow to the penis in response to sexual stimulation. They do not cause an automatic erection; sexual arousal is still needed.
Your pharmacist will help you decide which option fits your health profile and lifestyle.
Everything about this service is designed to be discreet. There’s no waiting room conversation about why you’re here. You book privately, consult privately, and receive your medication in a plain bag.
Our superintendent pharmacist, Dipesh Jogi (GPhC 2073384), conducts all ED consultations personally. This is not a tick-box online form sent to a remote prescriber. It’s a face-to-face clinical assessment at a registered pharmacy on 332 Hornsey Road.
Your consultation is private. We do not contact your GP without your consent, though we encourage it, as ED can indicate underlying health issues.
Treatment costs start from £1.50 per tablet, varying by medicine and quantity. We offer four options, which differ in onset and duration.
Prices are per tablet and will vary depending on dose and quantity. Your pharmacist will confirm the exact cost during your appointment.
We can’t provide treatment if you have certain heart, liver, or kidney problems. This includes bleeding disorders and specific eye issues. Your pharmacist will confirm your suitability.
Common side effects include headache, facial flushing, nasal congestion, and mild indigestion. These tend to settle within a few hours and are dose-dependent.
Do not take ED medication if you use nitrates (including GTN spray). Also tell us if you take nicorandil, riociguat, or prostate medications like tamsulosin, as these may interact.
Except for daily tadalafil, take no more than one dose every 24 hours. Your pharmacist will confirm specific dosing instructions.
If you have chest pain, sudden vision loss, or an erection lasting over four hours, get emergency help right away.
PDE5 inhibitors are effective for around 70% of men with ED. The figure drops if there’s a problem. This could be poorly managed diabetes or untreated testosterone deficiency.
Most men notice a clear improvement on their first or second attempt. If one medication doesn’t produce the result you expected, a different drug, dose, or timing may work better. That’s a normal part of finding the right fit, and your pharmacist can review this with you.
Medication treats the symptom. If a lifestyle factor, like heavy drinking or smoking, is present, tackling it with medication usually leads to better results.
You can access treatment directly without going through your GP or waiting for an NHS appointment.
If appropriate, you leave with your treatment on the same visit.

Got some friendly and super quick travel vaccines here as I realised 5 days before travel. The pharmacist was soooo lovely and made the whole appointment easy. She was very informed and answered all my questions with confidence. Will be coming back for any future vaccine needs for sure as the price was much cheaper than the other ones in the area

I came into the chemist on Friday and I was very impressed by your colleague Fiona and how skilled she is with customers, particularly those who are vulnerable. She offered reassurance, was informative, and showed kindness and patience. She is an asset to your business.

Great little local pharmacy with wide selection and convenient hours, always has what I need in stock. Great customer service and advice from a lovely bubbly young woman who works on the till. Would recommend.

I needed to get a Covid and Flu vaccination together, before traveling, and Chemitex were able to give me a next day appointment and a good price.
The service was excellent and friendly.
I thoroughly recommend.

No. Our pharmacist can assess you and supply treatment directly. You don’t need a GP referral or prior diagnosis.
Not routinely. We only contact your GP if there’s a clinical reason to do so, such as an underlying condition that needs investigation.
Most ED consultations take 15 to 20 minutes. You can then receive your treatment the same day if appropriate.
Yes. Daily low-dose Tadalafil is an option for men who prefer not to plan around a tablet. Your pharmacist can discuss whether it suits your situation.
It’s common to need an adjustment. Different drugs, doses, and timings suit different men. Book a follow-up, and your pharmacist will review what happened and recommend next steps.
